Hello there, friends, and welcome to a fresh, new week of inspiration here on the SCT blog! If you had not noticed from our Spring 2022 issue, we’re a little birthday-obsessed over here lately. Our sweet 16th birthday excitement has spilled over to our Let’s Stamp Together March 2022 kit, and I just loved creating two new cards with it to share with you today!

Supplies | Let’s Stamp Together March 2022 kit; The Stamp Market Inks: Fresh Pink, Party Pink, Melon, Citrine & Emerald Color Crush Inks; Concord & 9th: Grateful Blooms dies; Gina K Designs: Blending brushes; Die cutting machine: We R Memory Keepers Revolution; Adhesive: Close to My Heart, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Other: Water brushes

At first glance, these lovely cupcakes designed by Becky Moore with Photoplay Paper seemed like they needed to be coloured with high-quality markers, but without a Copic in my stash, I was left with a creative problem to solve! I came up with two alternative ways to add colour to my cupcakes without a marker in sight!

My first card was created with a tried and true method that I have used over and over again: watercoloring with dye-based ink pads. For this project, I chose a beautiful colour scheme from The Stamp Market and went to work with my water brush, filling in the cupcake’s liner, icing, and flowers.

Once my cupcake was coloured, I die cut it with the exclusive metal dies found in the Let’s Stamp Together kit, then used the same colours to create a horizontal band across the card. To keep the white space around my cupcake, I die cut the Grateful Blooms scalloped circle from Concord & 9th, popping it up for added dimension. My sentiment was then added to the card front in two colorful hues, and the panel was popped up onto an A2 card base before I added three sequins. Simple and fun!

My second card made great use of the exclusive stencil included in the kit to colour this lemon-flavored cupcake! I loved using the same colour scheme as the card before, but I switched up its appearance by using a different tool. The color application is so smooth, and I love the gradation that you can achieve using this technique! I also decided to use the stencil to add a pattern to my background, so I used all five colours to sprinkle it up! This colorful rainbow of sprinkles added the perfect touch to the card background.

On top of the background panel, I again added strips of colour to the card, topping them with a stamped and die cut “birthday” sentiment, then stamped “love to you” below on the colorful strips. The finishing touches came with heart die cuts in coordinating colours and a sparkle of sequins.

I would love for you to watch how both of these cards came together, and I hope this video inspires you to pull out your Let’s Stamp Together kit today, whether you have a rainbow of Copics in your stash, or not!
