Memories in Pockets with the June SCT Sampler and Jess Forster

Hello, and happy Wednesday, friends! It’s Jess Forster here. I loved the traditional travel colour scheme that you can find in this month’s SCT Sampler. Take a look at the beautiful products included this month from Pinkfresh Studio, Echo Park, and Hero Arts:

The cool tones in the paper papers from this month’s Sampler inspired me to create a 6 x 8-inch double pocket page of my son at 11 months. It was July 2016 and we had travelled to Iceland. Thankfully, I kept a journal of all the things he loved from that trip as well as a series of photos of him at the time.

I cut the 6 x 6-inch pieces of patterned paper down to four 3 x 4-inch cards to use as a background or placeholder for my journaling and title/filler cards. The “you are here” ephemera tag was the perfect title and journaling cue to take about his development at this stage of our trip.

For the design, I used the series of photos to colour block in the middle while positioning my papers on the outside. I also cut out word sayings from one of the patterned papers and added them to my photos using foam adhesive for dimension.

Using traditional supplies, like the paper and embellishments in the June 2023 SCT Sampler in pockets is a great way to use your supplies while maximizing space for your photos. I hope you’ll give this a try using your Samplers, too!
