I love creating handmade birthday cards, just about as much as everyone loves to receive one.
In my personal opinion, some of the biggest fans of handmade birthday cards are young ladies…hence the overload of pink goodness, glitter, flowers, and butterflies on the card that I created to share with you today. This card was created with a “certain someone” in mind.
Supplies: CARDSTOCK: Bazzill Basics; PATTERNED PAPER: Crate Paper, Simple Stories, American Crafts; CHIPBOARD ACCENTS: Crate Paper, Simple Stories; ENAMEL DOTS: Simple Stories, My Mind’s Eye; EPHEMERA: Crate Paper; MANUAL DIE: My Favorite Things; ADHESIVE: Xyron, Scrapbook Adhesives; OTHER: thread, corner rounder, pinking shears, gold paperclip, gold glitter
To create my card, I started with a block of pink patterned paper, rounded all four corners and adhered it onto a card base cut from kraft colored cardstock. Next, I ran two narrow strips of patterned paper horizontally, slightly towards the upper half, followed by a die cut flagged banner directly below. A block of lined patterned paper, trimmed with pinking shears, was then adhered directly below that, and topped with a “Hooray” sentiment from my favorite ephemera pack.
The additional part of the sentiment was computer generated, cut into a thin strip, and then adhered to the card front. I then wrapped two widths of white crochet thread horizontally above the striped patterned paper and topped it with a tied bow. A glittery butterfly accent was adhered atop a gold paperclip using adhesive foam to add some dimension. A trio of chipboard flowers, adorned with a hint of gold glitter, and a colorful collection of enamel dots completed my design and added the perfect finishing touch.
