Welcome back to another day of inspiration for We Love Spring Week! They say that April showers bring May flowers, and sometimes those rainy days make the best memories—rain boots splashing and days spent together indoors. Today, Jill Broadbent is sharing a lovely layout that brightens those rainy days with sunshine from a beautiful collection! Let’s take a look!

Hello friends! It’s Jill Broadbent and I’m here to share my love of spring with a fun layout idea that uses the adorable collection, Here Comes Spring from Carta Bella.

Supplies | Patterned paper, stickers, die cuts; Carta Bella: Here Comes Spring: ‘Happy’ metal die: Scrapbook & Cards Today; Cardstock, gems; Close To My Heart; Scallop punch: Dress My Craft; Cricut: Electronic cutting machine; Scrapbook.com: Tape runner adhesive, foam adhesive

The entire collection is full of perfect pastels. I was immediately drawn to this patterned paper filled with colorful rain boots. I was taken back to a photo I remembered of my daughter (now age 18, then age 3) and I knew I wanted to use it with this paper. I love how products can trigger memories of things we want to pair together to tell our stories!

As I started designing, I realized the pastels worked well, but with the brightness of the pink in her boots in the photo, I brought in a bright pop of raspberry pink. It helped marry the colors in the photo and papers together. Don’t be afraid to add colors that aren’t present in a collection to make it work for you. Since there were already so many shades of pink, the addition of a darker shade of pink worked well.

I wanted to use as much of the boot-patterned paper as I could and the emphasis is there while also breaking it up with the raspberry cardstock and the gingham patterned paper. I triple-matted my photo to ground it and provide a focal detail.

The stickers and die cuts in the collection made for perfect embellishments. I also added some hand-stitching details to bring in a touch of texture.

For the title, I simply made a 5” circle in Cricut Design Space and added my text in a curved path on top and a straight line at the bottom. I combined the font so it cut out the letters and I backed the cut pieces with white cardstock. The “happy” title, an exclusive from SCT, is cut from the same raspberry cardstock layered three times and adhered with foam tape to make it stand out. I like to add a circular element when the rest of the layout is very linear to provide interest.

The last little detail for this layout is the mix of scallops. Scallops make everything cuter, in my opinion, so I used a scallop punch along the mint cardstock and paired that with a larger scallop at the bottom of the raspberry strip. The third scallop was a border from the sticker sheet and I added a piece of it under the photo. I love how subtle it is, but it adds a feminine, finished touch and also ties into the daisies in the photo.

All in all, it’s a simple layout, but the Carta Bella collection made it so easy and sweet, and perfect for spring!
