Hello SCT friends! It’s Wendy Sue Anderson here with you today, and I am excited to share a set of cards inspired by the fun layout created by Meghann Andrew on page 14 of the Scrapbook & Cards Today Winter Issue! Take a look!

To create my cards, I used the adorable “A Birthday Wish – Boy” collection by Echo Park Paper!

Supplies: Patterned paper, solid paper, stickers, ephemera pieces, enamel dots: Echo Park Paper A Birthday Wish Boy collection; Cardstock: Carta Bella Paper; Border punch: Fiskars; Foam Dots and adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Other: white thread

I just loved how Meghann cut several different banners from various papers to create the background for her layout.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to use that idea to create birthday cards!

On my first card, I used Meghann’s basic design, but instead of the photo, I added a square sentiment from the 6×6 paper pad, mounted on solid cardstock.

I used foam adhesive behind the square sentiment as well as embellishments to add just a bit of subtle dimension. I also pulled out one of my oldest and most-loved tools: a scalloped border punch!

For my second card, I swapped the placement of the focal point. Instead of a square sentiment, I used a cute sticker featuring party animals in a bus instead of a larger sentiment. I used baby powder to remove the stickiness and then popped it up on some foam adhesive squares.

I scattered bright, happy enamel dots and layered up stickers for a fun addition too!

How has the winter issue inspired you? Remember that layouts can inspire cards and cards can inspire layouts! Peruse the pages again, looking for little elements of various projects to inspire your next paper crafting adventure!
