…………………….
Hello, Scrapbook & Cards Today friends! It’s Becki here to share with you a layout that I created with the Mix & A-Mingle collection from Simple Stories. This collection has such a fun retro vibe. I LOVE the patterned papers in this collection. They are SO fun!
Supplies | Simple Stories: patterned paper, stickers, decorative brads, chipboard, sticker book, die cuts; Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L: foam adhesive; Scrapbook.com: tape runner adhesive
I wanted to use a LOT of patterned paper on this layout. I started with the green plaid background and built the rest of the layers of the layout from there. Isn’t this green plaid so cute? A few more sheets of this patterned paper are on their way to my desk. I can’t wait to work this into a few summer projects too!
The next layer I added was the strip of dark green patterned paper across the top. I wanted a little bit of contrast but nothing too bold. This green gave the layout just that, a little contrast but not too much! To give the seam in between these two patterned papers a little bit of distinction, I added a pink border and a red scalloped border. These two borders help emphasize the holiday feel of this layout. I also added some stitching along the two borders to add to the handmade feel as well as add a little bit of texture.
There are two main embellishment clusters on this layout. One above the photo in the dark green patterned paper around the title. The other embellishment cluster is to the right of the photo. To the right of the photo, I created a little scene with Santa and the tree. Both embellishment clusters have stars, which added continuity across the entire layout.
You might be thinking that I neglected to put journaling on this layout. There’s an interactive element to this layout that I didn’t show. Did you notice the two tabs on the upper right corner of the photo? That’s where my journaling pulls out of a pocket. The journaling slides out of that pocket beautifully.
This layout turned out just as I had imagined it in my head. Don’t you love it when that happens?! I know you’ll love the Mix & A-Mingle collection from Simple Stories! I cannot wait to see what you create with it! Happy, crafty holidays, my friends!

Scrapbook layout of Christmas morning
My favourite holiday makes this year include: 24 snowman + snowflake tags for my neighbour’s Grade 6 class. Next – gingerbread themed projects (tags, mini cards, ornament – and of course, cookie cutters) for my other neighbour’s daughter, who’s having a special party with 5 of her Grade 3 friends on Dec. 23. Such fun to make for kids! Also, a cross-stitch snowman, that’s really cute!
Another day of awesome gifts; thank you for the opportunity!

My favorite holiday craft that I’ve made was a Christmas tree! I cut strips of paper and rolled them individually to make a tree. Then I adhered each strip on to a small poster board. I added a silver star to the top of the tree and framed it. I gave it to my Daughter, and when I was over at her home recently, I saw she displayed it, and hat made me so very happy!
