Hello friends, it’s Latisha Yoast here to share a few cards created using the Simple Stories Simple Vintage October 31st collection, which was featured in the Ten Most Wanted list in the Fall 2022 Issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine! Let me say this: If you like Halloween, grab this collection! It is very popular for good reason—it’s such a great Halloween collection! Take a look at the cards that I created:

Supplies | 6 x 8 patterned paper, 12 x 12 patterned paper, ephemera, cardstock stickers, chipboard, bits & pieces, foam stickers: Simple Stories Simple Vintage October 31st collection; rectangle scalloped frame die, oval die, circle die, black cardstock, yellow cardstock, glue, twine: Lawn Fawn; purple cardstock: Concord & 9th; 3d foam squares, tape runner: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Creating projects with a patterned paper collection is always such a treat and so much fun. The guesswork of coordinating products is already done, and very minimal extra supplies are needed. Besides the collection, cardstock, a circle die, oval die, rectangle frame die, and adhesive were used. But again, these are not necessary as the collection contains everything one would need!

For this card an A2 card base measuring 4.25 x 5.5 inches was cut and scored, ready for layers. The witches paper was adhered to the card front, then the polka dots paper was die cut and adhered to the card using foam adhesive. Using chipboard and ephemera pieces, the images were adhered to the center of the card with a tape runner and 3d foam squares. The dimension of each image brings the card to life. I just love that little girl flying on the broom, and of course, the black cat sitting on the pumpkins.

Besides cutting and scoring the card base, as well as cutting the back panel and oval die, the foam stickers, ephemera pieces, and stickers were placed onto the card. The “boo” and the large bat were popped up with 3d foam tape for added depth. Then to finish, a double black twine bow was added to the top of the card.

I have a black tuxedo cat, so I have an affinity for black cats. When I saw the duo of black cats with witches’ hats on, it was game on, and the first card I created. Always go to the item that draws your attention first! It will never fail you to get the creativity flowing. A few trimmed pieces of patterned paper were adhered to the card front. A strip of orange text patterned paper was used to ground the circle die cut with the cats. It also allowed for the perfect placement of the “happy Halloween” sentiment sticker. The foam hearts were added for a final embellishment.

I am so excited to get these cards in the mail next month. Halloween is the kickoff to the holiday season here in the United States, and there is something so magical about the end of autumn going into winter that gets households excited!
