Hello, Scrapbook & Cards Today friends! It’s Becki Adams here to share a layout with you inspired by the Design 101 article in the Fall 2022 issue. This is one of my favorite articles in SCT Magazine. I look forward to it each new issue. All of the projects in this article are phenomenal! The fall issue is always filled with projects that have a cozy, warm vibe and since fall is my favorite season, I get even more excited about the projects in this issue.

Supplies | Paige Evans Garden Shoppe collection: Patterned paper, die cuts, foam stickers, puffy stickers; Scrapbook.com: tape runner; Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L: foam adhesive

There are three projects in this issue. When I tried to choose which project or design principles I wanted to use for this project, I couldn’t narrow it down, so I decided to incorporate a little bit of all three projects into my layout. I cannot wait to tell you how this project came together!

The Design 101 article is on pages, 37, 38, and 39 of the fall issue. On the bottom corner of each page, there is a section that highlights a design element. I used each of those on this layout.

The first tip that I chose was to create a diagonal design, which I learned from Lisa Dickinson’s layout. I started by creating two corners of embellishments, one in the upper left corner and one in the bottom right corner. These embellishments are anchored by the two green triangles of patterned paper.

The second design element I took away from this article was Mari Clarke’s page—using white space to allow the eye to rest. I created white space above and below the photos opposite the embellishment clusters.

The final element I incorporated was to add lots of dimension between layers to create texture. I took this inspiration from Dilay Nacar’s project. I added foam adhesive in between the layers of flowers as well as gently bent the petals of the flowers to add dimension, too. If you haven’t devoured every single detail of the Design 101 article, you need to! It’s ALWAYS fabulous! I hope you create something that is inspired by this article. If you do, we’d love to see what you create, so be sure to tag us, @sctmagazine, on social media. Happy creating!
