Hey, crafty friends! It is Nathalie here with you today to share a bit of inspiration. Have you looked at all the extra content added to each issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today? The magazine is not only filled with ideas and inspiration, but also with a few extras such as cut files, printables, and how-to videos, that you can use for your projects. Today, I want to show you a new idea featuring the latest cut file designed by Paige Evans and is included in the Winter 2022 issue.

Here is what I have created with the cut file and the beautiful My Valentine collection from Carta Bella.

Supplies | Cardstock, patterned paper, die cuts, cardstock stickers, enamel dots: Carta Bella My Valentine collection; Cardstock: Hammermill; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Metal dies: Altenew; Ink: Muji

I love how the cut file can easily add a little something extra to this memory of our latest Mother’s Day snapshots. I wanted to create an impact on this layout—that meant a large title. This time,  I used the cut file as the title for my page with a little twist.

My choice was to encase the title in the focal point of the page. For this, I used my Silhouette software to draw a heart and welded the cut file to one side of the heart. I backed the title with papers from the My Valentine collection, then using foam adhesive, backed the entire heart with colored cardstock. This helped to make the title and the heart shape pop on the page.

To make sure that the pictures are the focal point of the page, I transformed them into black and white and printed them as a film strip. I set them to the side of the title, on a small offset angle. Then, I added a few fussy-cut flowers as embellishments.

There are a lot of pink tones in this collection, and I decided to add a few extra leaf die cuts. This helped to add an extra pop of color and definition to the embellishment clusters. To complete the page, I added a few lines of journaling and then framed the entire layout with colored cardstock.

I just love how this turned out. The beautiful cut file from the winter issue adds so much interest to the page—only a few extras were needed to complete the page. Be sure to download all of the free downloads from the issue! I cannot wait to see what you create with them!
