It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Hi friends, it’s Jess here, and I am excited to show you how I am getting into the holiday mood this year! I am using some of my favourite Christmas patterned papers to decorate my gifts. Have a look:

Supplies: Doodlebug Design Let It Snow collection: patterned papers (Candy Cane Lane, Holiday Dots, Frosty Floral, Heartwarming), Shape Sprinkles; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Other: Fiskars scissors

Using the fun and fresh, Let it Snow collection from Doodlebug Design, I created these super easy and super cute bows on top of my teacher gifts this year. I just love the red, pink and blue colour combination and I decided to add it to my craft paper wrapped notebooks that we are giving to our favourite educators.

To create your own bow ties, you will need a paper trimmer, scissors, adhesive and your favourite holiday themed patterned paper. I cut three shapes of paper. They include one triangular piece measuring 4.5” x 1.5” that serves as the base, one circular piece that measures 6.5” x 1.5” which serves as the wrapped bow, and one rectangular piece of paper, measuring 1.5” x .5” that serves as the tie.

The key to creating these decorative items is to work from the base up, taping pieces in the middle. My finished bow measures 4.5” x 1.5”; however, you could easily increase this depending on how much paper you have. Top it off with one of the cute Doodlebug Shape Sprinkles and your presents will pop with pizzazz!

Mix and match or keep all colours all the same: it’s up to you! I hope this simple idea inspires you to use some of your patterned paper to stylishly decorate your gifts. Thanks so much for reading and from my family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

With the holidays just around the corner and chilly weather in the forecast, it’s time to bundle up, sip a hot beverage and be creative! Our new “Let it Snow” line is a heartwarming collection featuring adorable arctic animals, lots of snowmen and of course, dear old Santa! It’s perfect for Christmas and snowy day paper crafting! So let’s get creating…it will be SNOW much fun!

The second prize up for grabs today allows you to stuff your own stocking with new stamps, or a fun new medium:

Paper Glaze Ombre sets are uniquely curated hues of Paper Glaze containing three individual jars of a smooth, creamy medium used to create texture and shimmer. Use it on your paper projects by pushing through a stencil, dabbing onto die-cuts and/or a stamped image or watering down to use as watercolor or wash. Each set has one-of-a-kind colors that shimmer with generous amounts of top-quality artist grade raw materials.

The Picket Studios family would like to wish everyone a happy and crafty holiday season filled with love, peace, and joy, and offer one lucky winner a $25 gift certificate to the Picket Fence Studios store!
