Hello, Scrapbook and Cards Today friends! It’s Becki here to share with you a layout that I created as inspired by a beautiful layout in the Winter 2021 edition of Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine. The layout that I chose as my inspiration is the layout on page 58 by Lisa Dickinson. Take a look:
I’m always drawn to a classic grid layout and that’s exactly what Lisa’s layout is.
I wanted my layout to have a fresh, spring feel but not have a spring theme. The “New Day” collection from Echo Park Paper was the perfect fit for this project. The first thing I did on this project was print my photos. I printed three photos at approximately 3” x 4½”. I also cut three patterned papers the same size as the photos. Around each patterned paper rectangle, I added stitching with my sewing machine and white thread.
One of my favorite things about Lisa’s project is that she stitched the cursive portion of her title. After cutting the title out of white cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo, I hand-stitched the word “smile” using the chain-link stitch. I love the look of white stitching on white cardstock.
On the pieces of patterned paper that are placed opposite of the photos, I added a few embellishments, the rest of the title, and a pocket with a tag for my journaling.
Using the DIY Pocket dies and the Nested Tag dies is an easy way to make an adorable little pocket for hidden journaling or extra photos. On this layout, I simply added journaling. The outside of the pocket is the perfect place for a few embellishments. I love how the camera and rainbow look layered together.
Last but certainly not least, I added a scalloped lace border along the top of the layout. The lace border punch from We R Memory Keepers is one of my favorite border punches. It gave the perfect detail to the top of this layout!

It’s gorgeous, Becki! I was inspired by Lisa’s layout, as well. I love how you embellished each grid. The stitched border at the top is like icing on the cake!
I love this Becki! I want to do a similar page for my youngest grandson. He is always smiling ????
